International Women's Day Celebrations 2015

On March 7, CWG held its annual International Women's Day celebrations at Mandarin Orchard Hotel. Themed "Adapt, Innovate, Connect, Moving Forward", the event invited distinguished overseas and local female leaders as guest speakers for the conference. Grace Fu, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for the Environment & Water Resources and Foreign Affairs, along with various female ambassadors, attended the event with 220 outstanding career women.

The four guest speakers at the event were Gina Qiao, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Lenovo Group; Edith Shih, Head Group General Counsel and Company Secretary, Hutchison Whampoa Limited; Wee Wei Ling, Executive Director, Asset & Lifestyle, Pan Pacific Hotels Group Limited and Chief Operating Officer, St Gregory Spa Pte Ltd and Executive Director, Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurants; and Michelle Cheo, Chief Executive Officer, Mewah International Inc.


"Corporate Social Responsibility" Sharing Session

On April 24, "De" group organised a sharing session and invited four prominent career women to share on how to raise awareness in corporate social responsibility.

The four guest speakers were Wee Wei Ling, Chairperson, People's Association Project We Care and Executive Director, Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant; Nichol Ng, Managing Director, FoodXervices Inc Pte Ltd; Ang Shih-Huei, CEO (Asia), Bell Pottinger Asia; and Bernadette Low, Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, Singapore Compact for Corporate Social Responsibility.


CWG Committee Retreat to Nantou, Taiwan

"Mei" group organised a trip to Nantou, Taiwan on May 15-19. Aside from visiting renowned tourist attractions, the committee also met up with the Mayor of Nantou and the women's wing through the coordination of committee member Lily Kuo.


Collaborated with YEN to organise the "Leveraging Smart Capital to Maximise Growth" Sharing Session

On June 19, YEN and CWG held a sharing session at ACE Ideation Centre where Koh Soo Boon, SCCCI Council Member, CWG Chairperson and Managing Director of iGlobe Partners Pte Ltd, was invited to share with 70 participants on "Leveraging Smart Capital to Maximise Growth".


Company Visit to SPARKY Animation

On June 29, 32 members went on a company visit to SPARKY Animation, a local animation production company. SPARKY Animation described branding, capital and skills set as the key elements to achieve success in the current era of new media. However, it urged companies not to disregard the influence of consumer behaviour, environment and culture, as these could also create viable business opportunities.


"Afternoon Tea at the Top" Networking Session

On September 5, "Mei" group organised a high tea networking session at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant for 55 members.


Inter-Cultural Networking Session between SCCCI & SICCI on Cultural Sensitivity and its Impact on Business Performance

On October 9, "Qun" group organised their first inter-chamber networking session with Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Women Entrepreneur Network (WEN). Three guest speakers, namely Bianca Cheo, Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director, Mewah International Inc; Veshali Visvanaath, Director of Marketing, Muthu's Curry Group & Owner, Prakalyam Gallery; and Eddie Chau, Co-founder & Chairman, Spinircle, Founder & Chairman, Neeuro and Co-founder & Chairman, V-Key & Co-founding Partner, TNF Ventures, were invited to share with 56 members on cultural sensitivity in the corporate context.


Supporting the Yellow Ribbon Run

On September 13, CWG formed a team of 14 runners to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2015, to support the project once again. Donations received from the run were to be channelled to the Yellow Ribbon Foundation - to help convicts and ex-convicts in their studies, emergency expenses for their families, children and others.


Zumba Fitness Class

The Zumba Fitness Class opened its doors to recruit students on September 22 at SCCCI Auditorium. Taking place every Tuesday over 10 sessions, students were taught to strengthen their physique and given the chance to broaden their social network. It was conducted by local dance instructor Irene Lee.


Twinkling Christmas Party

On the night of December 5, 100 members gathered at Carpenter 29 Restaurant for the "Twinkling Christmas Party". This year, CWG also invited guests from other women associations to attend the event, including Helen Campos, Chairperson of Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Women Entrepreneur Network (WEN) and Mable Wong, President of the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women (Singapore).
